An Etsy St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's day is right around the corner.  While browsing Etsy today I found some very adorable items I would love to share with you.  These are only a handful of the many beautiful creations being listed on Etsy's St. Patricks day treasury.

This beautiful knit scarf from Warm and Soft is the perfect way to show your St. Patrick's day spirit without a tacky T-shirt.  How about those yummy looking fortune cookies?  Lucky Girl Fortunes creates these and many other adorably themed treats.  I think your little man needs the adorable button up onesie from The Humble Lemon!  Four leaf clover necklaces are beautiful.  You can wear these gold and silver ones from SeoulLittle year round.  I think these blocks from Stick with me Vinyl would be great sitting around the house.

Take a great engagement photo - Part 2

So as I promised, today I am bringing you part two of my engagement photos.  I did have a wardrobe change.  Make sure if you are planning on changing outfits for your engagement photos you run it by your photographer before hand.  These are some of my favorite shots from the day.  As you can see, location is everything.  These pictures turned out amazing, but I will warn you laying in the weeds in a dress wasn't very glamorous.  The outcome, so worth it!  Another reason why it is so important to work with a great photographer.  She had the idea to do this and the finished photos turned out perfect!  Experiment with different items in the area.  The last photo in black and white we were actually sitting on top of a row boat.

And of course, these photos are by the amazing Jodi at Giving Tree Photography! Thanks to her for letting me share them with you!

Add a Rustic Touch

Looking for a way to add a rustic touch to your home but not feeling like spending too much?  I have three great ideas for you today!

If you have old cabinet hardware you are actually a step ahead of me.  I don't have any, this is a project I need to get on!  If you are lucky enough to have any hardware how about sprucing it up and adding a rustic flare?

Burrowing Home - Woodland Art and Accessories

Snowed in? Yuck!  When is this winter going to end?  Luckily for me this gives me lots of time to blog about some more of my favorite Etsy shop finds.

I happened to stumble upon this Etsy shop when it was featured awhile back in a shop interview.  I was immediately drawn to the rustic and vintage feel that Burrowing Home's designs have.  Burrowing Home is owned by Kelly Mitchell Gazdowicz.  Kelly is a fellow Michigander and grew up exploring nature.  This is made obvious in her art.  She is extremely talented and I am honored she let me feature her on Lovely Little Fawn

Kelly's art depicts the most lovely parts of nature.  Her designs come in the form of different size prints, stationary, pillows, temporary tattoos, and even jewelry.

Take a great engagement photo : Part 1

It has been awhile now, but I wanted to share some of the photos from my engagement photo session.  These are truly some of my favorite photos I have of my now Husband and I.  Engagement photos weren't always as popular as they are now.  As a matter of fact some of our family didn't understand why I was having them taken, let alone what the point of a Save the Date was.  I personally love the idea of engagement photos and Save the Dates.  I think they are a way to give your wedding guests a preview of what to look forward to at your wedding.  Engagement photos are a great way to celebrate the special time between you and your fiance.

When taking engagement photos it is so important to have a great photographer.  You need to photograph with someone who knows your style and the theme of your wedding.  Personally it was great having our wedding photographer photograph our engagement photos ahead of time.  We knew each other by the wedding so it cut the awkwardness that can sometimes happen.  Remember these are very personal photos and it can be uncomfortable to have someone photographing you kissing and such. Having a good place in mind to take photos or a good suggestion of a place from your photographer is equally important.  These photos were taken on my grandparent's property, a place that I have grown up at.  This added an extra special meaning to the photos for me.

All of these photos were taken by my lovely wedding photographer Jodi at Giving Tree Photography.  Enjoy.

Thrift Store Creation

After visiting multiple thrift stores awhile back I ended up with a ton of children's books.  Maybe too many... So I had to get to thinking about what I could do with them.

Seriously too many.

Storiarts - Wearble Literature

I am so excited to bring you another post about my favorite Etsy finds!

Today I want to share with you a shop called Storiarts.  Storiarts is a beautiful company run by Tori Tissell.  Tori combined her love of art, reading, screen printing, and fashion to create one of a kind scarves, pillows, and gloves.  Her creations are stunning and truly unique.  She was an overnight Pinterest and Etsy sensation and her company has really taken off!  I love to see others doing what they love and being successful at it, so I am happy Tori allowed me to feature her beautiful work!

a few of my favorite ETSY things.

Being a huge fan of Etsy and all the lovely things for sale on the site, I wanted to start an at least once weekly blog post featuring one of my favorite Etsy shops and the items they sell.  For those of you who are not familiar with Etsy I will share a little info about it.  Etsy is a place to buy and sell handmade or vintage items.  There are millions of beautiful creations and I could browse through "shops" all day long on this site.  I have purchased many things on Etsy and have always been extremely happy with everything I have received.  Shopping on Etsy guarantees you an always unique creation. The time and love the shop owners put into there products always show in their creations.

The first shop I would love to feature is Run 2 the Wild.  Run 2 the wild is a beautiful shop inspired by all things nature.  The shops owner Courtney creates beautiful one of kind jewelry pieces that are truly amazing and unique.  I love the way she incorporates nature into her creations.  They are truly unique and beautiful.

I found Courtney's shop when I purchased this adorable SUCCULENT Sculpted Clay Planter Necklace awhile back.  It couldn't be more adorable and can you believe she creates these!?  One of my favorite things about her creations is the beautiful packaging and note she includes with her pieces.  It really adds a special touch.

My Michaels Finds

One of my favorite things to do when I venture to Hobby Lobby, Joann's, or Michael's is to browse the dollar aisle.  Nine times out of ten I find some really cute items for around 1 or 2 a piece.  This week I went to Michael's and found tons of really adorable items that I wanted to share with you.

Wine & Canvas

This year for my best friend's birthday I wanted to do something unique and fun.  I'm not quite sure how I found out about this place but I am so glad I did.  We ended up going to Wine and Canvas in South Bend, Indiana.  Talk about a great time!  We had a blast.  If you haven't ever tried something like this I promise if you have any sort of crafty bone in your body you will love it!  You most definitely do not need to be an artist to paint a picture at one of these places.  They have the best instructors who stand in front of the class, where everyone can see, and give you a complete step-by-step process of what to do.

For $35.00 per person you receive a seat in the class, a blank canvas, paint, and paint brushes.  My favorite part?  You get to drink wine (or other beverages) while you create your masterpiece!  They also offer food to snack on as well.  These don't come with the $35, but so worth it!

The classes are three hours long and you sign up online on their website for the specific painting you wish to create.  I suggest signing up awhile before you want to go because classes fill up fast!

Here are a few photos from the Wine and Canvas event my best friend and I attended. We had a blast!
Lots of fun creating!  My finished product turned out lovely. It hangs in my bedroom now and I love it

A Crafty Valentine

Valentines day is upon us, 8 days to be exact!  I wanted to share some of the ADORABLE Pinterest and instagram Valentine's day ideas that I have stumbled across.  For those of us with little ones, why not get crafty with your mini-me and create a one of a kind treat for their class mates?  What I love about these ideas are the lack of sugar.  So many other kids will bring in candy to share with the class.  Why not try something unique?

This first idea is perfect for the crafty, creative kid.  The great thing about this idea is the creator included a printable on her blog!  I found a great deal on the playdoh on Amazon.  Visit the link at the end of this post to get a bag of 15 for under $6.00!

I love this next idea for all the little bug loving boys!  I know my son would like these.  He is very into finding lady bugs and keeping them as pets.  This one also has a printable and a step by step to go along with it!  I love the look of the mason jar printable.  I found some adorable Melissa & Doug sunny patch bugs that would work perfect for this idea.  There is a link at the bottom to Amazon for these as well!  I know any dollar store would probably have some plastic bugs as well.

Finally I found something every little and big kid seems to love, Silly Straws!  This idea also has a printable tag to slip over the straw and a step-by-step.  I am loving the "Sip-Sip hooray, it's Valentine's day" saying.

Hope these ideas get you inspired to create with your little one.  Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm 99.9% sure I am a Disney Princess...

Sick in bed means working on a few projects I can handle from bed.  Today I started working on a few creations made with vintage children's books.
These adorable Cinderella themed paper confetti are available on my Etsy shop.  Such a fun addition to a Disney Princess themed birthday party!

I have tons of other options of children's books to create these.  Make sure to contact me for special orders.

Rustic Wedding Centerpiece

So I recently put a picture of my wedding centerpieces up on Pinterest and am getting a TON of repins, so I figured I would do a post about them and how easy it was for me to create the look.

Starting out I knew I really didn't want a whole lot of flowers on the tables.  I was trying to keep the cost of my wedding down so the less flowers the better.  I also knew I wanted to incorporate the table numbers somewhere into the centerpiece (also in an inexpensive way).

So...

Materials I used to create this look:
  • Milk Bottles (from Christmas Tree Shop for $2.00 a piece)
  • Sticks (from my backyard)
  • White floral stem (from Michaels.  I waited for the 40% off floral sale they have almost every other week.  I only had to buy two because each floral had lots of stems.  I wanted to keep it simple so one small stem per bottle was plenty)
  • Birch branches (from my backyard)
  • Mini logs for candles to set on (My dad cut these from his fire pit wood pile in alternating heights)
  • Tea Light Candles (Hobby Lobby - Make sure to use your 40% off coupon!)
  • Jute wrapped around the tops of the bottles (Found giant rolls of this at Christmas Tree Store for $1.99)
The brown item laying on the birch branch was actually a mushroom ornament I had found at Kohls on Christmas clearance.  Incorporating a mushroom into our wedding was key for me because Shaun purposed to me while we were mushroom hunting (it's a Michigan thing!).
The table numbers were extremely easy to create and tied into my use of chalkboards throughout my wedding.
All you need to create the table numbers are:
  • Wooden hearts (Found at Joann's Fabric for less than fifty cents each!)
  • Wooden dowels
  • Chalkboard spray paint
  • Chalk Marker
I spray painted the backs and fronts of the hearts with the chalk board paint, hot glued the heart to the wooden dowel, and wrote the table number on the heart.  Simple as that!
Paired with a burlap table runner, these fit perfectly into my rustic themed wedding.  I got tons of compliments and lots of guests asked if they could take their centerpieces home.

A Wedding Shoe How to!

Happy Sunday!  I am in the middle of another string art piece today so I figured I would put a wedding post up!

Browsing through wedding pictures I stumbled across some of my favorite shots.  The Bride's Shoes! Shoes are such a great opportunity to ditch the traditional and wear something you LOVE!  My wedding was rustic and I only used neutral colors, so I used my shoes as an opportunity to add a pop of color to my wedding day look!

I searched for my shoes forever it felt like, but when I found these I knew they were perfect!  I found them at Jcpenny for thirty dollars!! What a bargain!! I found my jewels at Icing in the mall.  They had the perfect vintage look I was going for!  My garter is also pictured.  I ordered it from an Etsy shop called LucyBridalBoutique.  This shop has some adorable bridal pieces at really reasonable prices and great quality!

Pinterest is a great source of inspiration for the PERFECT wedding shoe.  I am definitely guilty of spending too much time looking on there for my perfect shoe.  The problem I would run into is a lot of the shoes I would find on Pinterest would end up having no link attached to them (so no way of finding out who sold them or where I could find them) or they would be extremely out of my budget!  Christian Louboutin's were out of the question!  So get out there and shop!  I am lucky to be three hours from Chicago so I had the opportunity to go there and look, but don't forget about the stores close to you!  Your perfect shoe may be closer than you think!!

A crafty Before & After...

I love sprucing up old items or making them into something completely different! The best places to shop for these hidden treasures are of course thrift and antique stores.  Recently I stopped by our local thrift store to see if I could stumble across anything that had some potential.  I am also working on a project that uses old children's books (Stay tuned!), so I was hoping to find a few there!

After a quick browse I found two books, one was pretty old, the other was a Rainbow Fish book that I thought I could use eventually.  I also found these two adorable items...
